| Weishan County is located to the south of Shandong Province, whose area amounts to 1,780 km2, with a population of 680,000. The county has the biggest freshwater lake in the northern China, Lake Weishan, which covers 1,266 km2.
Weishan has both a long history and a rich cultural tradition and several ancient civilizations once flourished in this region. The county is noted for its plentiful natural resources. The lake contains 78 kinds of fish with the total weight of natural resources amounting to 30 million tons a year.
In addition to being the biggest freshwater lake in Shandong Province, the lake commands uniquely scenic beauty, designated as a model ecological preservation area by the province government.
Weishan Lake is full of aquatic resource. The county is famous for lotus flowers presenting a scenic grandeur with hundreds of thousands of lotus flowers blossoming in summer and autumn seasons. |
