Lanshan District of Linyi City is situated to the southeastern part of Shandong Province, and at the forefront of the Bohai Area Economic Zone. It covers an area of 660 km2 and has a population of 920,000, with a floating population of 300,000. City's legislative and administrative buildings like municipal assembly and city government are located in this district, which is a central area of the city's politics, economy, culture, and business. The economy of the district is rapidly growing with the gross production of 25.5 billion Yuan in 2006, recording an annual growth rate of 18.2%.

Tourism

Lanshan has a long history and a rich culture. One of the most famous tourist attractions is the birthplace of Wang Xizhi, the most famous calligrapher in the history of China. He is said to have spent his childhood days here and the Chinese government recently restored his house to its presumably original state, along with a cultural park where some of his works are exhibited. Near the centre of Linyi city is located a museum which houses some original bamboo works from the Sun Tzu era.
