General Facts

Dalian City is a major seaport and city of trade, industry, and tourism, developing as one of the most heavily industrialized areas of China. Dalian is located at the south of the Liaodong/Liaotung peninsula at its narrowest neck or isthmus, west of the Yellow Sea and east of Bohai Sea. And to the north, it faces the three northeastern provinces and Mongolia. Dalian is situated at an important area of the northeastern and Bohai economic zones, neighboring with strong economic players like Russia, Japan and Korea. The city covers 12,574 km2 with a coastline of 1,906km and a population of 5,653,000 Dalian is a major industrial base of China, and an international distribution center. The city handles trade with 160 countries and 300 ports of the world and is currently covering over 70% of the maritime transportation and over 90% of the cargo container handling.

Tourism

With a mild climate and multiple mountains and beaches, Dalian is a very popular destination among Chinese tourists and foreign visitors. Among the major tourist attractions are Lushunkou District and Jinshitan beach or the Golden Pebble Beach, which make Dalian a special place to visit.
